What Is The Principle Of Balance In Art Design:

Balance is equal weight distribution, attention or attraction throughout the painting. This is most notable in shapes. Large areas should not be left empty without equal full areas to balance the painting out. Larger shapes toward the center can be balanced out with smaller shapes away from the center. Smaller dark shapes can be used to balance out larger lighter shapes.

You can offset a larger white shape with a smaller black shape. Placing a small dark boat or smaller rock on the left side of this painting could accomplish this.
